Has anyone tried making their own yogurt and/or fed yogurt to their poultry in any quantity? I just came across a goat farm in Huachuca City I'd like to check out, but there's only so much you can do with raw goat milk.

the chickens label as ameraucanas at hatcheries are easter eggers unless they were ship from an ameraucana breeder
i notice this year alot of chickens on craigslist are label wrong so many easter eggers label as ameraucanas on craigslist
some hatcheries have pictures of the chicks and older chickens ss is easy to tell they have a bunch of dots

I made my own yogurt for a while. Got tired of the work. Now I use a kefir. Just drop it in the milk. It makes yogurt in 1 to 2 days on the countertop without any work on my part

mclevinson: Sharpie on the feathers...thats a good idea!

So where can I find chick leg bands? Would Pet Club or Mesa Feed have them? The chicks are arrving this week, so no time to order online. (should've thought ahead I guess!!!)

I would be extremely surprised if any Arizona retailer carried chick-sized leg bands. Foy's Pigeon Supplies is where I buy my leg bands. http://www.foyspigeonsupplies.com/catalog/bands.html is the link to their catalog, BUT I would call them instead of trying to guess from the bazillion choices they offer. Their customer service is first rate, and they could also tell you if they offer express shipping.

I had another thought - some people use plastic zip ties, and I've seen some that are very small and come in multicolored packs....
