I had a hard time regulating humidity. Now I am running a ultrasonic humidifier (cold water vapor, not hot) just above the vent hole in the incubator. Humidity remains constant. DH has to suffer for three weeks because he uses the humidifier normally to keep the bedroom at a more suitable humidity

I don't have a spare cool mist humidifier but I have been running the hot one. It's just 12 inches away from the bator, so go figure. You could grow a rainforest in Emmy's room.

the water bowl started leaking and the chicks got soaking wet
i dried them with the hair dryer but they still cold
they have a heat lamp what else can i put them to stay warm
would pine shavings help

9 more eggs! I'm happy we got 10 though! I will do eggtopsies if need be, but I'm still hoping for late bloomers.

Congrats on the new chicks, I hope the rest hatch out okay

Shavings will help if they do not get wet from the waterer, then they just keep it wet.

Make sure there is enough heat from the lamp and that there are no drafts. But not so much heat that it bakes them!

mclevinson good luck. To get my humidity up I took a air pump from my fish tank ran it to a jar with air stone in water. I drilled 2 holes for the air tube the same size as tube, and ran other tube from jar to bater to get humidity from jar it worked good.

If they sprawl out as far from the lamp as the can get, too hot. If they are huddled together in one big fuzzy lump right under it, they're too cold. Keep the food and water as far away from the lamp as you can.

I'm not a fish person so I may not quite understand, but wow...how inventive was that? Good job!
