Ok, so I want desperately to integrate my 4 14 week old pullets with my two laying hens. The Buff is fine with them, but the Red has issues. So, I have put the young ones in with the older ones for short periods of time. The Red harasses and pecks, had blood on one of the pullets last time. Even free ranging, she'll charge them. So tonight, I snuck the pullets onto the roost in the coop after the two older ones were roosting. Red stayed where she was and didn't bother them. I went to check on them just now and all 4 pullets are out in the run piled on top of one another in a corner sleeping. The older ones are on their roost. They have two large separate roosts that they can use. Should I leave them in the run, even if it rains? Or should I take them out and put them back in their little container thing they were in before? Help, please. I might be jumping the gun here, are they still too young?? Thank you!
