Well here is to the 21 day wait. I put the eggs in the incubator today, some from e-bay and some from my own experiment. I'm going off of Chooks-chicks cheat sheet ( tongue twister) this time since the previous times have been pretty pathetic.

I'm about out of time for the pear and plum trees. No one has them, I wonder if a nursery would cut off some limbs for me? I don't know how to really graft them either, good videos on you-tube though.

It seems like a relatively easy thing to do, right? I'd definitely like to try it. Today I saw them pruning the fruit trees at the nursery and the cuttings looked usable.

We gave up half of our garden this winter and portions of the yard to plant fruit trees. I have three apple trees (Anna, Golden Dorsett, Fuji) to put into the ground tomorrow. Earlier this month we planted a Flavor King Pluot, Flavor Grenade Pluot, Santa Rosa Plum, Snow Queen Nectarine, Arctic Star Nectarine, Minnie Royal and Royal Lee Cherries. I think I have a place to squeeze in three or four peach trees.

There is always room for peach trees. I'd like to fit in another dozen myself. Next on my list is a nectarine. I get plenty of blossoms on my pear, plum and apple just hardly any bees. I'm hoping if I could add some different varieties, then what little bees I did get would actually amount to something on the tree. I'm curious to hear how your cherry tree works out. Is it a sweet or sour variety?

Hey Mikey, trees are a lot easier then plants in my opinion, at least once there established. I've only killed one so far and it was in the way of the coop anyway.

They're both sweet. They're supposed to do well here in the southwest, with something like 200 chill hours. I've been hugely influenced by stuff I've been reading and watching from Dave Wilson Nursery (big wholesale supplier to most of the southwest). Here is one of their main guy's pics for best fruit trees in the southwest: Tom's picks.
Oh, I also like their harvest date chart. While the dates won't be exact for us here in AZ, the relative ripening dates should hold. I'd love to be able to pick peaches from early summer and into the fall.
