Arizona Chickens

I'm at work and just showed these to Kim. She loved it. Thanks for posting them.

Sherrie
Gratuitous chick pics. Here is mama Puddin' bringing them out of the nest box for the first time today. Smiles-N-Sunshine, I hatched Puddin' from the eggs I got from you last spring! These eggs that SherrieT got from her friend were described as being from two roos (EE and Egyptian Fayoumis) over and EE's, Polish, Aracana, Lakenvelder, Blue Andalusion and Phoenix hens. Unfortunately, none of the white eggs developed, so we'll miss out on some of the surprise mixes.

So cute. The best way and the cutist is when the hen raises her own chicks! I really got a kick out of watching Cotton with her babies.

I know huh?! It's so amazing that they have all those special vocalizations and behaviors that you only hear and see when they have chicks. It's all inside, just waiting to be expressed. BTW, cute goats!

I think I have successfully injected the catchy chicken fever into my husband! He told me, "No more chickens, Nova." Now? He came back from an errand run to Ace Hardware and came up to me and said, "Um...so, I talked to Rhonda and she said they will be getting some EE chicks next Friday, but we have to put our names on a list to reserve some chicks if we wanted any. So, I uh, I put our names on the list for 6 EEs. Is that ok with you?" HAHAHA

Wasn't the weather GORGEOUS today?!?!?!

I'm hoping you'll all join us for the Easter Hatch... we'll be announcing a BIG prize soon.

I am finally getting rid of my RIR rooster. This guy is the biggest cheap shot ever. He only flogs me when I am not looking. Today I was feeding and bending over and he got me in the back of the thighs good. He ripped my pants and drew blood. I wanted to keep him for a few more months and seperate him and the one RIR hen that I have and incubate some eggs, but he has flogged his last. He is going to home full on barred rocks to make some sex link babies.....no kids of course. stupid jerk rooster!
