Arizona Chickens

Good Morning

I need a vet that knows chickens. Our rooster needs to be seen. He is not completing a crow, is making a kind of twisting motion with his neck, is sort of stuffy sounding. He is behaving normally other than that, just as active, eating fine, etc.

This isn't something I want to attempt to treat myself because I don't want to lose this rooster, lots invested in this guy and we just love him.

Do any of you have a vet you would recommend? I'm in Desert Hills (far north central Phoenix), but would drive to wherever to see just the right vet.

Thank you.

I go to All Creatures on 40th St. and Greenway. Dr. Ingram is an avian vet (not a true poultry vet) and I am happy with the care he has given my girls. If he cannot help you out, he may know a poultry vet close to you.

Ok Mikey:

Some pics of my set up:

Baby gate keeps them off the patio most of the time. It can get ugly at times!

Back side of the grow out nursery. I have a bamboo shade attached if it gets too sunny.

This is the set up. Dh added a patio cover for the big girls so they can have shade.
I had this great idea to use the top half for a growout/integration area.
It is about 5' x 4'. Enough room for my 5 babies. Have double doors for easy clean out.
Added a sheet of vinyl flooring for easy clean up on the floor and also on the outside of the coop.

Added left over plexiglass to the bottom outer portion of their open area. Keeps the shavings in and
little heads away from any interested doggies.

Updated the big girls coop. Got rid of the poop board and added FRP to the walls.
Much easier to keep clean. I scoop the poop every morning and wipe down the walls
if needed.

We put in the chick/poult brooder and the duckling brooder inside the coop finally! We still have a TON to do on the coop, it is a work in progress =) The grey thing in the back that looks like a little hut is an auto-refill watering dish made special for poultry. It is attached to the hose so it will never run out of water! =)

we have gone to the market on the move but all of the time
they had tomatoes and cucumbers never any lettuce or cabbage
to give to the chickens, its a market where you get 60 pounds
of veggies for 10 dollars

easter eggers are hatchery birds
they usually give you a green egg
or an egg between light green and blue
for really beutiful blue eggs it has to be
a pure ameraucana unfortunately none
of the hatcheries have pure ameraucanas
and the feed stores never carry pure
ameraucanas you would have to find them
from private breeders i will take
a picture of the hatchery easter eggers eggs
and the pure ameraucanas eggs so you can
see the egg difference
