Arizona Chickens

So I put babies out in the yard in small tractors/cages. One of my hens has been escaping her pen every morning, then frantically trying to get back in. Today, instead of frantically trying to get back into her own pen, she frantically wanted to be with those babies. Mind you she did not hatch them, and has not been broody. But now she is in with the oldest group--we will see how that goes. I'd like to have them out in the yard, but without heat, it is too cold for them at night IMO. If she will broody them, that would be great--just not sure if she is large enough--she is a little crossbreed, and these 8 are my oldest chicks, so that makes them about 7 or 8 weeks old.

You may all relax, I HAVE LOCATED MY CAMERA.

And I didn't have to buy one for it to show up!!!

good thing too.... www.thehenway.com was really starting to stink without new posts. LIke old socks.

Ok so I have a new CL post. I have BUY 1 GET 1 FREE for the younger chicks. BUy 1 @ $8 get the second free so basically $4 each the rest of the week ending on SUNDAY night. All are silkie MIXES.. anyone interested let me know..

Almost done redoing my incubator and have dozens of eggs waiting to go in.. Wow lots of work. But hopefully worth it..

Fuzzybird: I liked your joke, and the pups are super cute. My mom is thinking of getting a standard poodle, but she wants black.

If she can hold on for about 5 more months we are planning a litter that will have black pups.

i want to get rid of my hatchery chickens
there 6 months old great layers
to make room for my non hatchery birds
its a hard decision because the hatchery
kind lay more eggs and the eggs are bigger
in size compare to non hatchery
non hatchery got smaller eggs

I've become allergic to building things that will live outside from wood.

It just doesn't seem to last. The frame will surely be steel - the siding with either be heavily insulated steel or lightly insulated wood.

I'll think of something...
