Arizona Chickens

Is there anyone near Mesa that knows how to capon a young roo of about 3 to 4 months old? I have 10 boys that would like to go to freezer camp, but would like to try to capon them.
IF anyone can help me maybe a small fee to show/help me could be thrown in there.

Please pm me thanks..
If you find out , im sure there are lots of us who would love to know as well!

I just got caught up after being gone a few days. It was great seeing PuffyCheeks and Mama Hen Chris at Ranchmsn's on Sunday for the Feed Bird and Raising Backyard Chickens classes. I was a little disappointed in driving all that way to hopefully see a demo on meat birds in order to see if I had the nerve to do it. Well, it was informative. I may end up with a turkey next year. I will be taking my girls out to the Urban Farm for a tour on Saturday. Can't wait. Let me know if you plan to go and we can try to meet up. http://www.urbanfarm.org/uf-events/event/277-urban-farm-tour

It was nice to meet you as well. Although informative, I also was somewhat disappointed on the whole thing. I really thought there would be more "action". I would LOVE to go to the Urban Farm, it sounds amazing and inspiring! Hope I too can go someday soon. Have a great time, I hope the kids enjoy it!

Hi everyone! My family and I have just started raising chickens in our backyard. We have 2, 3.5 month old red sex links, one 2.5 month old dominique, one 2.5 month old barred rock and a 3 month old white silkie. They just moved into their coop about a month ago and have done great ever since. Lately we have had a bad fly problem even though I clean the coop and run daily. How do you AZ people deal with the flies that come with the heat? I live in central/east Tucson, within the city limits and don't want my neighbors to hate us because of all the flies. I bought some DE and have been applying it almost daily, but haven't seen much improvement yet( a little). There are no flies in the coop, just the run. Does it just take a while to work?

Anyways, it's great to see so many other AZ and Tucson, AZ chicken people here. Anyone else have city chickens? Any advice is appreciated.

Good afternoon all. Sick as a dog in AJ today. I was just telling my principal that I've missed about a dozen days of school this year and none of them were for being sick should have kept my mouth shut.

I got a few drops of the vitimin into Flopsy yesterday of course I put her in the sink and she jumped out and knocked over $10 worth of the silly stuff.

I'm going to try to make it downstairs to do it again.
GET WELL SOON!!!

I wanted to share a couple more Serama chick videos...Uno and Duo are about a month old now!

We are 90% sure that Uno (the darker one) is a roo, so at some point in a month or so we will probably be looking for another home for him....PM me if you might be interested, and would give him a good home with lots of babes
