Arizona Chickens

thanks for that great idea! i have 2 pounds of strawberries, i'll make some to go with lemonade for dinner.
you've also inspired me to finally make the applesauce i've been meaning to crock pot for a few weeks now. 2dozen peeled cored and sliced, should be done by dessert.

snickerdoodle (my hen) seems to be ok. at first i thought she would never move again, but she's cleaning off all the counters and shelves in my bathroom like each thing is a treasure. i still dont know about her foot tho, i did already change bandage cuz she stepped in poo, doesnt look great to me.

My favorite thing to make out of apples is some old-fashioned apple butter. Mmm. Dump a spoonful of that on to a crispy piece of toast for breakfast. I just hate running it through the food mill by hand. It's so time consuming. I really need to get the attachment for my blender, but I don't have the $100 at the moment.

I have four more pounds of strawberries I'm going to throw in the freezer. When blackberries and raspberries go on sale, I'll get a bunch of those. I made some summer berry and triple berry jam a few months ago that was to die for! It didn't set up right for jam, but it makes a perfect ice cream topping! I wish I had enough property to grow my own, but alas, between my barbeque and fire pit area, the pool, the porch and all the oleander bushes for privacy screening, there's no garden area. I still want to put in a swingset for my daughters, too. The chicken coop and swingset will take up the last of the spare room in the yard.

i've read on here about proper little chicken patients behaving nicely staying in the shower, or even for hours in a kitchen sink. why is it then that i end up with this?

at least she's feeling well enough to fly...

my friend made gave me some blueberry "jam" that is the perfect pancake syrup, lol. i bet it would be great on ice cream too, going to try that soon.

Well, for what it's worth, my great grandmother had a pair of "banties" that lived in her kitchen and roosted atop her cupboards every night. This was about 95 years ago.

She looks like a swedish flower hen I'm selling....

Congrats girl, you are on the road home! :)  So did you move all hatched to your friend's house ( I am thinking Marana) ?

That is so sweet you remembered. Yes, all the chicks I've hatched have gone to friends flock. Can't wait to get my breeding pens set up and at my own place. They are going to keep the laying flock and I get the breeders!

Of course now I also want Sulmtalers and Isbars. ;)

Eta: we are loving the EO's. Can't wait till we can hatch some of our own out
