Arkansas Blue egg layers

Pics
I had a decent hatch the year before - so ? eh. Will do it again next year :) Very happy with how the hens are doing years into this now !

Anyone still around? Been a while since we touched base. My last year's hatchlings are all grown up, the pullets are rapidly coming into lay, with lots of lovely blue pullet eggs. Thought I would post some pictures - hatching season is around the corner!

Out in the snow last week - the hen in the back on the right is an ABxDelaware pullet, she was the first to start laying and her eggs are a light olive color. You can ignore the Welsummer hen.

And the blue cockerel in the top picture, all grown up. I have another blue boy who does not have any red leakage, I'll try to get him to pose for a picture as well.

They look great!
I like the splash pullet. I have one splash, two gray and one black pullets.

BTW I'm offering the same deal as last year - a dozen eggs for the cost of shipping, once the weather starts warming up. PM me if interested. I'd love to see more of these birds around. They are such great layers, feed efficient, and the eggs are as blue as the best blue egg layers I have had.

That is a stunning blue rooster! Maybe red leakage is undesirable, but I think it looks beautiful on him. If I didn't already have too many roosters and projects going on, I would take you up on your egg deal. I used to be on a quest for blue eggs, and every breed I have tried so far has disappointed with their greenness. (BTW, I have been a lurker here on this thread since the beginning, and also read through the predecessor thread. Maybe someday I will be an Arkansas Blue owner.)

I've got a blue roo nearly as nice as that - with no red/brown leakage too ... he is so nice.

My sad news - my blue splash hen died - It wasn't just the cold - but the fact that it was just unrelenting this winter - since Christmas we have only had ONE DAY above freezing !!! she made it through the -25 degrees days - now the days are in the pos 20's but it just must have been too long for her ;( the white splash hen is doing ok - and I sold all the offspring locally last year (thinking this year I would keep them myself) - so I am really needing those eggs ... I would love to trade however - so I'll cover shipping gladly - but I do make some organic lip balm, organic body powder, Lavender power, and some other homesteading stuff ... that I would love to send you as a thank you for any eggs.

Oh - on a positive note - am getting a brinsa -so won't have to wait so long into summer for a broody to show up - which means the birds won't have to be separated in small breeder pens for as long :)
