Arkansas folks speak up.........

We go to Sushi at least twice a week. Picked up a real liking for it when I was in the Corps. My wife used to think she would hate it, so I made a bet with her she lost. The pay up was eating sushi - well it only took her 1 time trying it to fall in love with the stuff. Now me, well I even like the really nasty stuff like urchin, abalone, tuna hearts, shrimp heads, and pickled baby octopus. She still won't eat that stuff. When I was in Japan I even had pork and chicken sashimi at the sushi bar. They just barely sear the outside like they do with tuna, then they slice it thin like they do the fish. Really it's very good, but you can't get it in the US, could you imagine a place serving raw chicken here? They would shut them down in a second. None of us ever got sick from eating it over there. They don't have the battery raised chickens like we do here. The chickens there (even in stores and restaurants) are more like our backyard birds and they are comfortable eating it raw. Might have to go for dinner tonight, this has made me hungry.

Me either. It really kinda grosses me out. I have trouble eating fried fish, let alone sushified fish..

I was like that also. Now I love it.

I see people are offline right now, but when you gets get back on could someone let me know their thoughts on having limestone sand (3/16ths sand/rock) in the breeder pens? Someone at work said they would be afraid of it "burning" the chickens feet. I'm trying to find a cleaner, better way of keeping their pens. I haven't noticed anything with them but I don't want to do anything to hurt them.

There was one person that said she bought construction sand....I looked into that but it was 300+ for 8 tons....the 3/16ths or limestone sand was 149...a friend of mine was told for what we needed the limestone sand would be better (and cheaper!!!).
It does make things a lot easier to keep their pen cleaner.

I'm gonna try to make it to the November show in Fayetteville. This will be my first time. Is anyone else going? I'm sure you guys have talked about it, I was just curious.

Ok, it could just be me, and mind you I haven't done any research on the matter, but I would think that a limestone/sand mix would be fine. I really dont see how even if they ingest it, it could be any worse for them than the pieces of gravel they eat from the drive way. Just my .02 cents.

It looks just like smaller sized gravel. I was just curious, I haven't seen anything different with the chickens. They've been walking on it for a week now.
Thank you for the advise/opinions. A lot of times I go through these posts and I'm not real good at talking, (don't know what to say without sounding stupid) - but I think you guys are a real hoot. I'm glad to live in Arkansas. Thank you for being "real" people here.
