Thanks Chicky Tocks. She was moving this morning when I went out there. I gave them a special treat of cat food today. I will be able to keep an eye on her today since I will be working on my garden. My green beans have germinated and I have to get out there and hand till the spot I want them in. And if I find any of those ugly, nasty, grubby things the chickens will get those too.

All of the other chickens are great. Two are laying. I just hope my Eva pulls through.

BTW I have chick envy! They are so cute. Im afraid to go to TSC!

I have two chicks out so far! There I was, snuggled down in the covers at 2:00 a.m. and I heard the loudest PEEP!! Up from my bed I sprung and there was a pretty little White EE/Buff Orp chick drying in the bator. It's so buffy irridescent! Shortly after came a cuckoo maran chick which I mistook once again was to be a black copper maran. Dang those cuckoos are laying dark eggs! I think it's a cuckoo...it has a spot on it's head and it appears to be a little girl.

So now I wait and pace some more.

As for pullets, with five kids, I have all my pullets under armed guard. Jacob and Jahdan will throw rocks at anyone trying to steal, borrow and buy THEIR pullets! Since I am fond of chicken and dumplins, not sure we will have any male birds availble either.

Jen is hatching a lot of Buckeye eggs. She may have some chicks?

Wow jimsfarmstand you lost a lot of ducks. Did I miss hearing what happnened?? That sucks!!

har everybody wants pullets, lol! I'm gonna be hating out PLENTY of babies, but yer a far stretch away from me. You'll probably find some though. Spring is a good time for babies!

I went back to TSC today (looking for a dog collar that I didn't find....) and I just happened to notice that the bin that I got my chicks from was supposed to be the pullet bin!!!!! The two girls who were there today cared a lot about the animals, and were even checking for pasty butts!!! They told me that they hadn't gotten any more in since the other night and they did know that the pullets were supposed to be all girls! I think TSC has improved their chick day set-up somewhat, because they now have little carrying boxes to give out the chicks in that have instuctions for chick care and coupons for Dumor grower feed. They still haven't improved the stupidity of the young male workers who were on shift when I bought my chicks, but as they say, you can't cure stupid!! LOL
ANYWAY, I think I may have purchased 6 pullets at the straight run price! LOL

Anyone here got any chocolate or Buff Muscovy ducks. Would like a start with either ducklings, eggs or adult birds prior to the ban by FWS on March 31. Thanks.

Hope everyone is doing well today. I've been really sick this last week with some stomach bug.

I was just laughing my head off at my little tiny Modern Game chick, so I thought I would share.... He keeps picking up his own toes when he's pecking around for food. I think he picked up every toe at least once.

These chicks on stilts are pretty entertaining.
