Another good morning from the northwest corner.

I think summer is finally over. I managed to can 18 pints of green beans yesterday but I think all that is over now. It's now time to clean out the coop and put that stuff on the garden to get ready for next year.

I'll second that on putting the stuff on the garden.
 
BRRRR! So cold today. Rained pretty good here as well. Have a 75 watt light on my new young bantam hens and little Naked Necks, mostly for the little black runt NN. Everyone is doing great in the cold. Crazy geese and ducks are still playing the pools. So strange to me. xD

Draye: Have you noticed any difference with the Naked Necks in winter? Like do they get colder more than a normal chicken? Or do they brave it just the same?

Thanks for asking!! I just posted the same question on a different thread and only got one reply. They said that there are a lot of factors that influence molting but it usually takes about 2 months? Any Arkansans out there have a different answer? Two months is an awful long time to wait for my 3 leghorns to start laying again, I need their eggs for Christmas crafts...
