Arkansas folks speak up.........

Haven't posted in a little. Been dealing with Halloween things, and doing errands for my mother.

And my darn EE won't stay in the other pen! She keeps going back to the Japanese and Cochin Bantams!

Trying to break her from staying with smaller roosters and escaping their pen. And I lost 2 newer bantam pullets, 1 to a dog attack and the other I am not sure.

Do you Oscar Sorrells?

I put 33 eggs in the incubator yesterday.

12 were Barred Naked Neck over Brown Leghorns.
21 were Buff Laced Polish over Easter Eggers.

Anyone else still hatching this late in the year?

I'm doing my second 'bator hatch in a borrowed still air hovabator. This time around 13 Black Copper Marans, 12 EE (light green eggs) (these were all shipped) and 7 of my barred rock banty X LF Buff Orpington. I think I will always put in some of my own eggs whenever I hatch eggs from other places; my first banty hatch was 100% so they are my control group ;-)

Who else is experiencing a drastic shortage of eggs right now? I'm doing everything I can for the girls to lay more, but I've gone from getting 9 a day from 12 down to 4 if I'm lucky. They are first year pullets too, I thought they would have laid better....I have 12 more at 32 weeks that haven't even started yet, and most of those girls don't even look close. What gives?
