Arkansas folks speak up.........

anybody ever been to the diamond mine and had any luck? Im thinking about going soon. If we get another 70 degree week.

I've been, had fun but no luck. Right after a rain is traditionally when the big ones are found. Don't count on another 70 degree week. This is the first I have ever seen in July in 40+ years of living in/around AR.

uhh McDonald county is the farthest southwest you can go in missouri. I am literally minutes from arkansas state line. We are a little cooler but not that much......just as humid here thats for sure

OK, I wasn't sure with you being a "northerner" from Missouri.  I know parts of Missouri actually have those temps.  The diamond mine area would be closer to Louisiana weather than northern Missouri.

I just set 60 U of A eggs. Phoenix, silkie, Spanish and Buttercups. I hate waiting!

How do you get U of A eggs? This isn't the first I've heard of getting from them, so I'm curious.

You contact these folks and you have to pick them up, they will not ship and they do not give out chicks or live birds. I have always worked through Dr. Bramwell.

They give first priority to 4H kids after they have all they need for the poultry science folks and if they have any left, they will share with anyone except those who would be considered like a hatchery or something. They are fine to give to backyard enthuasists to further the breeds.

Here are some of my 3 month olds from their eggs.

These are from my hatch 2 years ago.

OH!  I need to contact them.  So they just give away the left over eggs?

As far as I know. I have always gotten them for 4h purposes. You might ask if there are any restrictions. Other than the fact that you must pick them up, they do not ship, any hobbiest can get them. :D. Good luck. Let us know what you get. They have the breeds I showed above, plus, Naked neck, Hamburgs, Yokahama, and my brain freezes yp on the other breeds.
