Arkansas folks speak up.........

Baby chick Vitamins that are at the feed store?

I use Poli-vita-sol liquid vitamins for children. You can pic them up at any pharmacy or Walmart. Get them without iron. Try a drop or two on its beak so that it runs in its mouth and you see it drink it. Twice a day. Its not expensive and it is surprising what it will help. :-).

Thankyou Pudden Fluff, I will look for them. I would like to keep him but its just heart breaking to see him.He tries hard to walk, and has learned to fly if he is in a hurry.

Since he got this way because I used newspaper on the bottom of their cage, I'm wondering what else I should use to prevent the little babies legs from slipping as they learn to walk.

Shelf liner with shavings on top. Shelf liner is washable and resusable and gives a good grip for chicks.

Hope your rooster gets better. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies cause a multitude of problems in hatching eggs and growing birds. Sometimes feeds are lacking proper concentrations or the feed has been stored too long and potency is gone. Highly recommend you find a supplement that has a vast array of vitamins/minerals in it. Avian Super Pack is a powder for birds to put in their water. One pack will treat hundreds of gallons so you have to use just a small amount per gallon. Sometimes feed stores carry it, but I purchased mine online.
Where did you put the harness on his legs? Should be but below his hocks not above.
In cases like this, recovery could take some time so don't expect quick results.

Hi all! Newbie here from NW Arkansas! We just picked up our chicks yesterday! 2 barred rocks, 3 gold sex links, and 1 Rhode Island Red. We are super excited!

Thank you very much Mrs. Bachbach.I started out with wood shavings but heard chicks might eat them so stopped. I think I'll go back to them, or rubber shelf liner. I used 1/2 a bandaid cut lengthwise and put it below his hocks...but later I would see it had moved around and gotten too loose. Even duck tape did not stay put.
