Arkansas folks speak up.........

Well, I know it is all about daylight but it still seems like my girls like the pretty weather. 7/10 today and the other 3 are "old" ladies so they get a pass anyway.
Congrats! Mine haven't picked up a whole lot, but on a good more I got one new layer today. One of my 21 week old pullets started today. Looked like she had an uh-oh moment, it was out in they'd flee if the run.

I had one on the poop tray the other morning. Not sure who it came from. I have two girls at 24 weeks but they are not looking red enough yet. I did not include them in my count.

I also am pleasantly surprised at the laying this winter. All of my pullets are now laying and most all have been laying since December. What really surprised me was my hen pen. I've been picking up eggs in it even in January. Sometimes six in a day. I have 12 older hens in that house. Most in the 2 to 3 year catagory. I was wondering if it was the extra sunny days this winter or the warmth or a combination of both! I've never had older hens start laying until mid March.

I'm from Southeast Ar, looking for duck hatching eggs or ducklings also want some white leghorns chicks or hatching eggs

I always thought it was the daylight but if you consider when the weather is warmer they spend less energy trying to stay warm so they can expend some of that saved energy in egg production, perhaps.

I found a clutch of eggs in my llama trailer where we have some hay stacked, today. There were 18 eggs total. Several had frozen and busted but I took the others in and floated them and they were all good. I have a couple of girls who fly out of our open run and free range themselves. I will be on a mission to figure out who the sneaky one is. Pretty sure they are all the same girl.

Also found a tiny new egg in the nest so I guess my babies are readier than they look. Their combs are quite dark so its hard to tell.
