Congrats! Mine haven't picked up a whole lot, but on a good more I got one new layer today. One of my 21 week old pullets started today. Looked like she had an uh-oh moment, it was out in they'd flee if the run.

I always thought it was the daylight but if you consider when the weather is warmer they spend less energy trying to stay warm so they can expend some of that saved energy in egg production, perhaps.I also am pleasantly surprised at the laying this winter. All of my pullets are now laying and most all have been laying since December. What really surprised me was my hen pen. I've been picking up eggs in it even in January. Sometimes six in a day. I have 12 older hens in that house. Most in the 2 to 3 year catagory. I was wondering if it was the extra sunny days this winter or the warmth or a combination of both! I've never had older hens start laying until mid March.
