I’m sure you know to mark those eggs so you can remove any new ones. I’ll be a pain in the butt and say it anyway, more for other people’s benefit than yours.

Yep. Already marked. I am anxious to see if I have any additions. If so, I may have to set up a camera to see who is still laying. That will give me an idea who mama is. Right now, I am clueless. Some could be the broody's but I have a feeling most,if not all, are not.
I borrowed an incubator from a friend on the chance that she abandons the less developed eggs when the early chicks hatch. I'll try to finish them off if she does. Mostly as an experiment.
I started off with a surprise alpaca, then got two, now the potential for 9 surprise chicks!
This was totally un-planned. I have been a bit distracted the last few weeks with unexpected Alpaca babies.
We got the two mamas in April and they were not supposed to be bred and we came home 3 weeks ago to a surprise from the black girl. So I was busy nurse maiding and being sure all was well. 10 days later came baby number 2.
I had been planning on worming chickens and other chores but that got delayed until the 1st. So I set out my list (I only have 23 birds) to check off and make sure I caught and got the first round of wormer down everyone and one girl was missing. I (thought) I looked everywhere. Could not find her. So I thought that in my distraction with the babies she had gotten out and a hawk (she is a banty) or some other criter had gotten her. Everyone is molting so a few extra feathers floating around would NOT be noticed. I just chalked her up as gone.
Got in the coop yesterday to clean and move some things around and unstacked some crates I had piled in the corner an the bottom crate was a bit heaver than it should be. There she was with a dozen eggs. Candled last night and culled 3 but good little wigglers in all the others but they are obviously in different development stages. I have NO idea whose eggs they are as I have gotten zero eggs the last couple of weeks. Pullets haven't started and I thought all the hens had quit to molt, so, nothing like a true surprise!
Looks like your girls had other plans for those eggs!
I thought all of mine were done laying this year, but then heard one last week making the "I layed an egg" call. I saw her(she finished molt a few weeks back) coming out from under a shed, so I took the rake and pulled out a couple of eggs she had under there and all the leaves so she wouldn't go back. Just found two in the nest boxes today, so she must be back to laying where she is supposed to.
I can't wait to see what these babies look like. I have a mixed flock and no idea who layer the eggs. I can rule out a few based on color but they are a creamy color and that is the majority of my flock. I like good surprises so I am excited.
Are they all bantam sized? That could help narrow it down. But I agree, I have a mixed flock, no breeds just a barnyard mix. It's always fun to see what actually hatches.

I just joined & I'm from NW AR. West Fayetteville (close to Lake Wedington). We just built our coop in March. We did two batches of meat chickens & now I have 8 layers who are getting close to laying. Happy to be on here
