I finally got an egg. I was beginning to think it wouldn't happen till Spring. Since the dog incident I am down to 5 pullets, 4 are production reds and 1 blue cochin mixed with something else. Her comb is black so I don't expect it was her that laid the egg. I think most my PR's are laying (somewhere) just don't know where. I kept them locked up pretty late yesterday morning because it was so foggy though. No egg today. The egg was a large brown one and DH and DS both tasted it and proclaimed it the best egg ever!

Yay! Glad you got one. Most likely it is one of the PR birds/ It is my understanding that Cochins are kinda late to lay so that girl may take a while. I have 6 month old cochins who have yet to give me anything. I am curious to see if they will start up now or hold off. Who knows. I like surprises.

I have two Whiting line colored egg layers that just started laying so I am getting (most days) 2 eggs a day. That is good for us as the kids are off at school and it is just hubby and I. I'll be looking for customers in the spring if all 19 girls kick back in! LOL!

I’m still getting between 7 and 10 eggs a day from my 9 pullets and 4 older hens. Last winter I had results a lot like you are this year. It really changes year to year for me.

It will be interesting to see what happens this weekend when we hit single digits.

Well, I am still getting (usually) 2 a day from my Whitings and this week two more have jumped in. One is a hen, I saw her, not sure who the second is. I need to investigate a bit more.
