My Blue Wheaten roo is a good boy too so far, but he has this little gleam in his eye that worries me sometimes, lol! I'm probably just paranoid after hearing some horror stories.
I have a new Blue Wheaten Marans boy on his way from Florida as we speak!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so excited. My other roo has an injured or broken leg and hasn't been able to breed but one time, and it was an accidental breeding. He can't manage to breed my Marans hens (a cuckoo and a Wheaten), but he breed one of my Ameraucana hens when she ran out the door before I could catch her. She is a big broad girl, not to mention experienced and more than willing, so I think he was able to balance better. He can't breed the other 2 girls no matter how hard he tries. It's so sad. I went ahead and let this Ameraucana hen stay with him. She really seems to like him too, more so than my Ameraucana roo.
I'd like to try and hatch the next few eggs she lays, so I can get a few "Maranaucana" chicks! Those olive eggs they lay are so cool! Only trouble is my incubators are all full and my broodies all have chicks.
