Scott, does your Cuckoo Marans lay a lot of double yokers? The one I got from you has laid quite a few of them.

Anyone close to me (Arkadelphia) have any good layers for sale? Hens under 18 months, or pullets near point of lay.

They would prefer RIR or Leghorns, maybe Plymouth Rocks or Orpingtons. I don't have enough hens for them. I have mostly chicks and not a lot left of those either.

Oh, one more thing... Do you think anyone would be interested in Marans cross chicks? Pure Marans, just a mix of different color varieties.

I have fertile eggs from a Wheaten Roo and a Cuckoo female, and have been wondering if I should hatch them. Do you think these chicks would sell?

I also have a Wheaten female for this male, but I'll be keeping all the eggs from her for a good while to build my flock.

All our hens do. I would say 1 or 2 a week. Maybe it's the feed??? We feed layena, but they don't eat very much of it since they roam the yard all day long. They get lots of kitchen scraps as well. Not sure why they lay them so often. We like them though. Now we can tell which ones are just by looking at them, so we have a separate carton for them. Steph likes baking with those double yolkers alot, and I use them for fresh mayo and hollandaise sauce. Yum Yum
