I had to take DH to hospital today(2hrs one way), he was trying to get an abscess cleared up before getting a stent, but couldn't stand being short of breath, so he called the doc and make arrangements to go in today and start on IV antibiotics and have the stent put in tomorrow. So I have to go back up tomorrow and will be staying the night.

I hope he'll get to feeling better soon. Feeling like you can't get air is a terrible and anxious feeling.

Amanda, so sorry to hear about your Mandarin female, and your lonely male. I hope you find another mate for him soon.

Well, at the very last minute I decided to enter 3 chickens into the fair.....one for each daughter. I didn't go home to get them until lunch Monday, ran them back to town, bathed and blow dried them all, ran them down to the fair grounds, registered them, had them tested, and got them in their cages with only 30 minutes to spare! Whew! Next year I'm making my mind up sooner, I swear! ....but it was fun. Judging was yesterday.

Thank you, and yes, we, my girls and I, are very proud of our babies. I'm happy that the judge made a comment about how nice the two d'Uccles were and that he hoped I had a good rooster! The other two d'Uccles there weren't nearly as short and full bodied, but they were still pretty birds. I have a pretty good d'Uccle male for the one girl, but don't have a Golden Neck for the other one. Wish I knew where to get one.

I just got back from Atwoods. I picked up a white Cochin, a black Cochin, and what I think are two Lavender Cochins??? I know Ideal has them now, but I heard they're only so-so quality, but one of these looks pretty nice. One is ok, and it looks like a boy. I hope the better one is a girl, but my luck it's a boy too. Oh well, just to get Lavender into the line is a start. I have one Black chick and one black mottled to breed these to, though it will be a long wait and see!

Hey, all Mikayla and I had 45 chcikens in the fair, had 31 blue (1), had 9 red (2), and 1 yellow (3)... And her blue dutch doe got 1 in her class and then 1 over 6 other dutchs, so she did good I think...
Hope everybody else fair was good...

Wow! That's really something, and be sure to tell Mikayla congrats from us! How did you ever get that many ready to show? You must not have had to bathe them all. I HAD to bathe ours since they all 3 have feathered feet and our yard is nothing but a big mud whole right now. They left the biggest mess in my tub!

Did you get pics?

Oh, Amanda......if you're around. Are these two Lavenders or just blues? I've never seen blue or Lavender Cochins as chicks in person, and it's hard to tell the difference in photos.
