Hello to all you Arkansas chicken folk. It's nice to see I'm in good company. I live in Alpena (it's in the NW corner of the state).

We have LOTS of chickens. I'm crazy about them, they entertain and amaze me daily. Last night as I was putting them up in the coop I noticed one of my Red Star pullets had caught a small mouse. Since the rest of the flock was intent on roosting, she got to eat it without being chased by the others. And she did eat it, the whole thing!
