The next meet up is at Toad Suck Park on the Perry County side. Chickens aren't allowed in the park so arrangements have been made with the owner of Toad Suck One Stop to trade/sale in the gravel parking lot next to the store. Saturday November 7th at 9am
I actually saw some sunshine and blue sky today! There was a building on the square in Monticello that collapsed yesterday they think from the weight of the rain on an old building.

I hope not. I'll have to check. I wonder if they will consider moving it? ( our meeting ) I really wanted to go to that show.
My mom told me a story at lunch about a church having an animal blessing. Someone brought a pet snake that ate someone elses pet peguin then escaped. I thought it was just a funny story then I found this.
Anyone else have any info? I think I am gonna owe her 10 bucks. I mean it sounds sooooo crazy. It can't really be true. WHO KEEPS A PEGUIN IN ARKANSAS?

Yeah me too, and I got off work early enough to put up the main piece of fence for the last wall of my coop. I'm off tomorrow and if I can get *any* work done I can probably finish my coop!
That's awful and weird about the building. I thought only snow collapsed buildings. If the rain wasn't draining off maybe it would be too heavy? That's weird.
Maybe it rained so much it softened the ground under the building and caused a foundation problem??
I caught a possum outside my coop this morning. I went out to do my morning chores and after I had the coop open, medicated Eva, fed them and let them in the run, there was this nasty possum just sitting not four feet from me. I imagine he was watching me the whole time I was messing with the girls. I told him that if he messed with my chickens I was gonna make a purse out of 'em and I threw a chunk of 2x4 at him. He jumped and I threw another piece and he took off. I didn't see any signs that he was digging, but I am real uncomfortable now. We have plans for a bigger coop that I want to work on as soon as I am feeling better and the rain lets up. it wasn't sunny for long yesterday. It would be a whole lot easier for me to get to Toadsuck Park than all the way to Fayetteville. If I get a chance to go to a show its probally gonna have to be closer to home.
I think structurally that building had not been kept up, a little foundation settling and extra weight is all it takes. Even in an old brick house people don't realize how dry and brittle the mortar can become. It can be fixed, but it's a pain, not to mention cost alot of $$$. Most people don't bother and eventually it will fail.
Possum story for you Nikki. I have a buddy in Sherwood and we sit in his backyard all the time, practicing archery, drinking beer and such. A couple of years ago there was a possum that kept coming by and getting into things, he would just walk right up like a pet almost. He had no fear of people or he was just a moron. We would throw stuff at him, yell at him, all that. He just never understood that he was not welcome. One day my buddy reached down and grabbed him by the tail and flung him out of the yard. About 10 minutes later he was back and walking on top of the fence. Well this guy just stands up and says "I have had enough of this s***", he went inside got a 12 gauge and BOOM, there was just a wet spot left. This dude lives in a neighborhood
Guess my point is he the possum will be back, I do not advocate my friends method of removal in the city. However I have a live trap, if you would like to borrow it, then you could catch the dude and drive him far away and let him go. Just an option if you need it.
