I got Eva to eat some yogurt today! She is up, moveing, and drinking and she is starting to run away from me again ( I can't believe that is a good sign
). Usually my birds are very timid. They love treats and will follow you for them but they won't let you pick them up or cuddle them. She is still with me and that is all that counts! I got my DH to come with me to the Meetup next week! I think he is starting to catch the chicken bug
These last few days I noticed my rooster crowing at like 2am, and I've never noticed this before.....figured it was due to the brooder light being in the yard, ya know?
Tonight when I went out there at 1am he crowed and it happened to be when I had the chicks' doghouse open I figured he saw the light.
THEN I heard it.
There are some hispanic families with chickens that live near my in-laws on the other side of the park. They sometimes have escapees, there was a stray rooster wandering in my in-law's yard for like a week last summer. Well the park is pretty well lit-up at night, especially on my in-law's side where the skate park area is.....
You guessed it!
Crowing contest!!!!
Fortunately I can't hear my roo with my house's windows closed, so I HOPE the neighbors can't hear him enough to wake them up either!
I went out to check on Eva tonight and she is so weak she can't even get on the roost.
She was sleeping under the other birds and one of the pooed on her back, poor baby. I moved her out from under them. Tomorrow I am going to try to feed her some boiled egg and oatmeal to see if I can get some carbs and protien in her. If she is to die I want her last days with me to be as comfortable as possible. I though she was getting better for a minute, but looks like the vet was right.
