Shhh....George does not know he is a bantam. He thinks he is a giant rooster! I've seen him up close and he is really nice. Photo does not do him justice!
Thank you!! that is a very pretty chicken I hope I get a good mix of them though I suspect they are probably all roosters being free and all. Either way I hope they all do well
OK one more question. bedding in the brooder box??? every where I read this is bad and that is bad. When we raised commercial broilers we used to spread straw or rice hulls. What say yall??
On a different note concerning all the BBQ chicken (which we love) I video'd the first time my wife ummmm terminated a rooster. I still laugh at that one. She's is a genuine country girl but that was a riot
Most people use paper towels, or puppy piddle pads for the very first few days while the chicks learn what their feed is.
Pine chips or shavings are ok. Aspen shavings are ok. I use pine pellets.
I know some on here use rubber mulch and wash it afterwards for reuse.
Others use I think rice bran hulls, or some grain hull.
You might do a search, or just read around on the Raising Chicks part of the forum.
