I have two little Cochin banty roosters that I really have to get rid of. (I have 3, and one poor little pullet.)

They're only about 9 weeks old, but they are already fighting and doing all things roosters do. Can anybody help me?

They are really sweet, funny little guys.

I'm in Monticello, AR - about 45 min. from Pine Bluff. I'll be happy to give them to a good home. I think I would be willing to let them all go, pullet included, if someone wants them.

We're pretty close to the Louisiana Border, maybe an hour away.

Greetings All from Elliott, AR!

I thought I'd put my two-cents-worth in while I was browsing the board. Elliott is literally a wide spot in the road between Camden and El Dorado.

My son was given 7 hens of assorted and unknown (to us) breeds, and a rooster to keep them company. The neighbor(who gave them all to my son) told us he was a Bantam, but if he is, he is the Largest Bantam ever on record.... the boy must weigh close to 10 pounds, and is large for a standard bird, let alone a bantam. (he looks identical to the pic over in the Breeds page, but more like 18 inches tall, rather than under 10 inches.)

We do know that there is one Barred Rock, and one generic White Leghorn hen.

Anyhow, Hi Y'all, and hope to see ya round the forum.

Hey all. I'm not in arkansas yet. My in-laws just bought 60 acres near calico Rock and we should be moving out there within the next couple years.

Any advice on anything gardening or chicken wise???

I'm really excited we were looking at pictures yesterday. It is absoluely gorgeous!!!

We are quite close to the white river.

I am new to chickens and BYC. Just thought I would chime in. We are in North Little Rock. Right in the middle of the city. My wife and I are starting a small backyard flock. According to our city code we are supposed to have a permit for chickens, but nobody in at the city knows anything about it. Some of our neighbors have chickens, one even has a roo that crows all the time. They don't have a permit. We are on a lot that is about an acre with an 8' privacy fence in the backyard. So even without a permit we figured we would be safe going ahead with getting some hens to run around the garden in the backyard. Anyway just wanted to say hello to the rest of the Arkansas folks.

Hi Scot and welcome to BYC. This is JMO okay? so take it for what it's worth. If the city says you need a permit, then I would bug people at city hall until I found out how to get the permit needed, and I would get it. Your neighbors are getting away with having chickens without a permit for now, but what if a new neighbor moves into the 'hood, doesn't like chickens, and decides to make a stink about it to city hall? If you already have chickens, fall in love with your chickens (as tends to happen) and then someone complains, your chicken-keeping could be in jeopardy. Better to cross all your Ts and dot all your Is beforehand, but again that's JMO.
