Army Reserve thoughts?

Let's just get this straight... I'm not a wimp by any chance, it's not like I want to join Army Reserve to avoid shipping out... I don't care if I am shipped all I'm saying is I still want to do my real life job while I do this part time..

I requested to join infantry to my recruiter but he thinks I should join speical forces or jump school cause I am very fit and muscular compared to the small, skinny, fat kids he's seen trying to join the army.

I am going to join the Army Reserve this fall so I can work at my job and do this part time for the benefits.

Has anyone joined the reserves and what's your thoughts on it? Any info would be great before I officially join.

During wartime (which will not end, because of the economy), you will be deployed immediately overseas. I don't know any reservists who are home.

We are probably going to fight some skirmishes with Iran, over their nuke program, unless they actually get a bomb. Then we will be their best friend, like we are with every other bomb-owning country.

I mentioned that the "war" will not end while the economy is down. What would our economy do with 100,000 unemployed people? No, they need to stay in, unfortunately.

Sorry about that rebelcowboysnd, I didn't know they existed. Does every state have and outfit like that? The portion of their mission that says "augment the Georgia National Guard" would still give me some concern however.

Every state as far as I know has its own militia that can be called upon by the government at any time.

Of course the National Guard gets called out for local emergencies as well as being capable of being federalized. Fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and riots just to name a few.

They probably can be deployed over seas but my understanding is that the USDOD can not call them up. Only the GaDOD can do that.
