ARRGHH ~ New 2-legged Predator!

Quote:
My neighbor a few yrs back was just like this mom.
she 2 let her kids roam free, they were at my house 24/7, until her 20 month old got hit by a car in the parking lot of the complex. She had let her 20 month old outside by himself while she was inside talking on the phone, she was talking to me when our other neighbor a young single mom hit him when she was backing up.

This same little boy had been t my house the day before all alone, we came home from church and found him fully clothed sitting in our waddling pool. No mom or dad insight.

This little boy was air lifted to children's and spent a month in ICU. he has brain damage that will never be healed and eyes that will never work the right way again. His head was broken in so many places that he will never look normal.
Shortly after he came home, he was left to roam free again, he and other 2 yr little girl that this mom was suppose to be watching, wondered into our home on a cold JAn day with no coats on at all. hubby and I told them to stay in our house and see how long it would take for the mom to come looking, it was about 30 minutes. She came running in freaking out, asking if we had seen her kid and the kid she was to be watching.

It was sad, but almost losing her baby by being hit by a car didn't change the way she watched him.
A few months later, he was again left to play alone outside, and a dog bite him. The dog was not on a lash, and she tried to get the owners in trouble, but DFS was called on her b/c it was the 2nd 911 call in under 6 months to her house for child neglect. DFS never never ever paid her a visit and she ended up moving for fear of being reported to DFs again.

It is sad, but some of these moms never learn.

I'm so sorry for what you are going though, It's a hard spot to be in.

That is a really sad story....

CPS needs to be involved...it's abuse and neglect...from any standpoint...If the kids were dogs and being let roam free, they have been rounded up by now.
It's very sad.
Since you're a member of the LDS, I'm pretty sure a flea in one of the elders' ears might just do the trick.

While there definitely are creeps/pervs out there.
The media today would have us believe that every guy between the ages of 14 and 80 are potential child molestors. Turn off your stupid TV. I watched CPS destroy a friends life because someone made a call. CPS took their kids, kicking and screaming for mommy and daddy, for an unfounded, ridiculous allegation of neglect. And ALL kids get hurt. Next time your child scrapes a knee or gets a cut lets call CPS]Its too darn easy to sit back and be an arm chair quarterback!! None of you with children can't say your child has never slipped off and done something that could be potentially dangerous or just dumb. I'm not defending anyone who is legitimately neglectful!
Don't be so darned quick to pass judgement on half a story!!

Rather than trying to have a young mother PUNISHED maybe a little help and compasion first?? Having had a "wanderer" ourselves, I KNOW what it was like. We were SO lucky to have lived in a tight community where we all looked out for each other. Rather than a call to a Government Beauracracy, we called each other. Thats not to say calls weren't made to CPS. Made one myself, ONLY AS A LAST RESORT.

You are right. I have heard CPS abuse stories. However, if children of that age are continually wandering a neighborhood, that is very serious. That is not a scraped knee. That is potentially fatal. Naturally, we are not there, but the suggestion to call CPS assumes that the facts are as stated. It's all we have to go on.

I agree with everything you said here.

That said, let's not forget that there are pervs out there who WILL take and abuse our children.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shasta_Groene

Many of you may remember this case. The perv, a repeat offender no less, scoped out the neighborhood until he found children he wanted to take, tied up the adults and older child in the house, put the two younger kids in the car and went back and shot all three of the bound victims. He then drove the two children to another state and abused them until one died and was caught with the remaining girl.

This was recent and these children were stolen right out of the home they lived in, not wandering around the neighborhood. Unsupervised children are an even easier target for these creeps. Sorry but the fact that not every guy out there is a perv doesn't help me rest easy or trust strangers at all.

Miltonchix I hope you have read the whole thread on this.... As the greatest majoraity have felt that this mother needs to be talked with by her church members, pastor, or her elder family.. Most of us parents would'nt allow our children to run the neighbor hood in underware and diapers with a parent let alone unsupervised,,,, Sounds as if her parenting skills have not fully developed..... Believe me I know what it means to work with Childrens Services.... And both sides of it........
If all else fails getting some sense taught to this mother and or if some of her family doesn't step in..... I really would hate to see what would happen to children if there was no Family service to help..... It sounds to me that it has been the thoughtful neighbors of this mother who have been watching over her children when she should be.... I applad these people for caring enough to do some thing..... I have seen situations turn out very differently when people saw what was going on and did nothing.... because they didn't want to get involved ...... All I say is HELP THE CHILDREN... Try to help the mother Help her Children

Youv'e heard about it? I witnessed it!
In our Justice System people are supposed to be "innocent until PROVEN guilty".
Does NOT work that way with CPS. If an allegation has been made, you're toast.

Now, I'm getting off this thread because I'm just getting angrier by the minute. I cannot abide armchair quarterbacks looking for BLOOD!

Getting back to the two-legged predator part of the story (the little kids letting the chickens out), the parent ought to pay you for every bird her children lost for you. Approaching it like they are not babes in diapers, if an older child did that, wouldnt you ask for restitution? You've lost alot of birds. You'd hope that having to pay might make her watch them more carefully.
Miltonchix, I'm sorry for what you witnessed and what whoever that was went through if they didnt deserve it. No innocent parent should have their life destroyed. Note I said innocent. I dont see anybody looking for blood. I see concern for babies' lives.
