arsenic and cancer causing ingredients in chicken feed

its sounds like a great bill and that its doing a lot of help but still that there are cancer causing agent in feed that people give to their pets and also eat themselves is worrisome. if you know of any feeds that healtier alternative and do not have any cancer causing agents i would live to know. Id also love to know more about this reverse osmosis and how its harmful

You might want to simply research what is in these feeds and what the quantities are. For example, arsenic occurs naturally in the environment and as such is often found in trace amounts in a lot of things. It would take a lot to get a damaging amount of arsenic this way...I wonder if there is an LD50 list for chickens out there somewhere...that would be really useful in these kinds of situations.

it got me thinking because i know chickens are very prove to cancer especially reproductively ans in their eggs. So i did some research and many feed additives for chickens cause cancer and theirs even arsenic in some feed. So my question is does anyone know of any good feeds for chicken that doesnt contain such harmful substances and additives. Maybe this is some big ploy to keep the chicken industry boomin lol.
You will see that on everything in california, dont know how anyone there is still alive.

"Arsenic was introduced to chicken feed in the 1940s as a way to improve muscle growth, fight disease and make the meat pinker. Most of the arsenic is excreted, but some ends up in the chicken meat.

In 2014, the FDA called for the removal of the animal drug Roxarsone from chicken feed, saying it can transform into inorganic arsenic. But, removing it from the market is an ongoing process."

This is a quote from a quick Google search. I had heard many years ago that chickens "need" arsenic lol. Not quite but, apparently it has some level of "benefit".

Drinking too much water can certainly kill you, but it's not going to give you cancer. I think OP's question is valid and on point. Why should she feed her chickens something with that kind of warning on it, and is there a safer alternative? To which my reply would be, look at other brands and see if they all carry the same warnings. I'd be interested to know the answer to that, myself.

Prop 65 is on practically everything now a days in CA, so i don't really worry anymore. It could even be that the packaging has cancer causing chemicals but the feed is fine. :idunno
If you want better feeds you could look into organic feed? I'm not sure about your location, but I'm assuming CA?

BarAle has some good options that are corn/soy free and i think they have organic options too. You could try scratch and peck feeds, but those are mainly grains and should be fermented for the chickens to get the most out of it. There's also Modesto Milling which has a nice selection.

I haven't studied their ingredient lists, but I'd bet they are better than the average name brand garbage you'd find at tractor supply. I know chewy.com sells Modesto Milling and Scratch and Peck. BarAle is a little trickier to get a hold of unless you have a dealer in your area. However with the better ingredients you're definitely gonna be paying for them, as they are quite a bit more expensive than the $16 bag of Purina.

fear mongering much?

have you looked up the CALIFORNIA Prop 65? That is what the warning comes from. Look at your human items, not even food items, and they contain this warning bc those items are sold in CA, so must carry the warning.

Are you aware drinking water can kill you? Even pure, perfect water... if you drink too much, you will die from simply too much water. So, if you want to be afraid of something, you’re welcome.
Yeah, even my box of vinyl gloves has a warning about "cancer-causing agents" on it. :idunno I was assured that it's just because Cali is full of worriers (no offense to any Californians here -- I'm a worrier, too), and that using the gloves is just fine.

It's probably not the gloves themselves but something they treat them with. I know a lot of stuff you run into with that kind of warning is because it has some kind of plasticizer on it, cause those (like BPA) can be bad news cause they build up in your system.
