Maybe that can be changed? I mean, what if you misread, or accidentally hit a wrong button? Not like I'd ever do either of those mistakes.
I don't know what you are talking about, I never mess up either!!!! :lau:lau:lau

I love the edit button/option on threads!

That there in lies my problem with rating at all. Content is really what I am going for... So I will overlook errors... To Too and Two are a pet peeve of mine but I can live with it.

If the article is unreadable... I move on, just as someone else said.
A couple of errors or typos are ok but....TOO many is just plain bad.

My english is fraught with horrible grammar as I get older always guilty of backing up to fix typos as my forte was never typing
At least you proof read...I can't seem to even get that done! lol

X2. If someone is embarrassed about giving an honest rating, then they shouldn't be passing out ratings anyway.

Kdog, my dear, you write soooooo mucccchhhhh, I'm not sure i could ever get to the bottom of an article if you wrote one. :lau

LOL sorry about that :lau

And that wasn't even my longest post :lau

I started this poll because I hurt someones feelings today with a one star on their article....Come to find out..they are a complete newbie and honestly had no clue.
I felt bad, but now after chit chatting with said person I feel better and I THINK she understands why I gave the one star.

See, that's exactly why i feel an explanation instead of or in addition to stars is better

My main complaint away from content is monolithic writing.... A block of text probably half a page with out a break. As in chapters...

The subject may be awesome but I have to take it and place it in a text editor and break it into chapters so I can keep track....

deb

I admit I am guilty of that sometimes... I tend to just type as I'm thinking and don't go back and edit which leads to problems... and of course even when I DO want to fix it (because now I do at least notice when I'm writing a novel and it needs a break), I can't because I'm kind of a perfectionist/OCD and don't want to split up thoughts and ideas that go together and I don't know where to :( also sometimes I'm just so ADD I'm all over the place and there really is no good place to break it lol

I feel like in order to rate with stars an explanation should be required before submitting. No one star and go. Or a 5 star because of being friends with the user. Maybe 2 or 3 explanations for the given rating should be required? Or the rating should be built like a survey? And a comment box at the bottom.

Very well said! I love all of those ideas and 100% agree

I tend to NOT even read the ones that don't LOOK proper.

Proper in my eyes.

Is that walls of text or do you mean like grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.?

Well sis skip my coop article when I get to it because I'm not a writer lol you'd think with all the essays I've had to write over the years that I'd be slightly decent at it. Nope! :lau

The funny/weird thing is I'm really good at essays and writing and usually get good grades on them, even when I write it last minute, just natural I guess, but online I don't take the time to edit and stuff and write walls of text. Although I don't proof read essays usually either. But with essays I've always followed the thing I've learned early on in school with the intro, body paragraphs, conclusion format so it's easy to split up and I know what I want to talk about amd put where etc. But online I just mostly do stream of consciousness :lau

Ugh yeah I hate when like every other word is an error, makes it harder to read too.
