But....
The star ratings are there for a reason too.

Also idk if you saw my other post yet but i went into a little more detail, it's above this one

I think just the star ratings don't really serve much, if any, purpose so commenting or messaging them your opinions or critiques is more useful, at least imo :)

If it's something like maybe pics or their chicken in my coop then I would not rate it poor. That's totally not fair. But if it was incorrect info on chickens, then I would either rate it poor or not at all and just leave a comment to say that the info was incorrect. I would be very nice about it though!

I agree!

Better to see who is rating at what grade so is better to tell if it's just kids supporting a friend or if it is approved by experienced and knowledgeable adults... j/s...

Hmmm.... good point. Hadn't thought of that. Maybe only admins can see it not the users? But I'm not sure if that's even technogically possible to program it like that....

I just kind of think it could be bad like if someone doesn't like someone they could give them all bad ratings and ruin the overall rating of the article you know?

I guess I was concerned about bullying but I just realized.... the ratings are already in place, right? Like you can leave stars? And that hasn't happened yet to my knowledge so maybe it is not a concern. Plus of course people should be more mature than that and adults should be able to handle it so idk.

I agree....I think some newbies are confused and post articles when they shouldn't.

Like me :lau

Not new now but my accidentally making an article

When it's someone just showing their flock, without anything informative, I don't rate it. I expect an article to at least attempt to offer something to the BYC community.

Agree and also why are intros even articles? Should be a post so everyone can see and comment/talk easier.

X2. If someone is embarrassed about giving an honest rating, then they shouldn't be passing out ratings anyway.

Kdog, my dear, you write soooooo mucccchhhhh, I'm not sure i could ever get to the bottom of an article if you wrote one. :lau

I rate articles exactly how I see them, regardless of who the author is... if the article is misinformation, I won't even rate it and will and HAVE commented on it reflecting that...

Articles should be factually based, or experience based, depending on the content... and while I like to see members participating by writing articles, I do think there should be a review board before allowing them to be posted within the Learning Center... allowing misinformative articles to be posted just causes further confusion and leads to more posts saying "but I read that here on BYC"...

Also, I feel reviews of breeds should only be allowed to be done by members who have actually raised or had said breed... I have seen way too many lately being reviewed on hearsay rather than real hands on experiences and facts...

JMO...

Hot button of mine!! I don't actually take time to read many articles, though & my head currently hurts too much to elaborate. I can say that I completely agree with your above post. Well put as usual.

Even if they are not asking, per se, for the feed back they need to understand there will/can be negative feed back.

If they don't want honest feedback, they shouldn't post an article. Further, if they post a bunch of bull & are trying to pass it off as fact, shame on them and feedback should point out the stuff that is fiction.
