Looking to buy a pair of this color . Are there any breeders in Arizona , or will I have to have them shipped from another state ?

That's the normal coloration for males. Do not search for "chinese painted quail" or any of their other names. Go on craigslist and search "button quail" They are called button quail in aviculture. If you seach for them under any other names, you wont find any as people just call them button quail.

They need to be kept indoors and in monogamous pairs. You can buy them at pratts pets and feed.
I live in arizona. there are TONS of breeders here. The quail you described that were your neighbours' sound like cotournix. Not button quail. Button quail are teeeeeny tiny. A little bit bigger than a finch. I keep them in fish tanks inside.

DO NOT BUY TWO QUAIL THAT LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE PICTURE!!! That is a male. If you get two males, they will fight. You'll want to get a male and a normal brown female if you get a pair.

And do get a pair or pairs. they are not happy in a group setting. now if you hatch chicks they can be kept together until about 6-8 weeks then they will start to fight and will need to be paired up. Do not try to keep trios or all male or female it is not in the best interest of the birds.
