At first I didn't think she was serious!

Oh my! Well at first I was offended! I was thinking that she thought I was an irresponsible chicken owner. Then when she kept talking. I figured out that she just didn't get it! Then she tried to pass it off that beings she is a teacher she knows how it all works and I don't! Interestingly enough right after that conversation she said" So are you still sitting at home all day?" Referring to me being a stay at home Mom!

Hmm? Now that I think about it maybe she just wasn't happy to see me!!

They're preprinted now. Although I don't bother with spelling here either, heck i hardly bother wth typing fixes, I have to fuss about that in my job, I'm not going to care on my time off.

A lot of teachers are teachers because they are institutionalized. After 16 to 18 years in a classroom, it's the most comfortable place to be. They know very little other than what they have picked up academically frrom other teachers.

You know she's just jealous!

Thanks for making me feel better! I didn't think of that. Her comments made me feel inferior.

She did just have a baby about 6 months ago. I thought she chose to go back to work. Maybe that is not the case.

I have found that most of the time, when people are condescending or purposefully uncouth, it's because they are trying to make you doubt yourself.
They instill doubt into others because they either lack knowledge or experience.
And... next time she asks if you're still sitting around the house, reply, "Yeah, you should try it sometime. Then you could relax and have an intelligent conversation with me. I'll be happy to explain anything you want to know about chickens so you won't be confused next time."

I remember Paul Harvey telling the story of a city Boy Scout troop in the woods for the first time. A boy found a few cans of canned milk under a bush and yelled that he had found a cow's nest!

(This is my very, very first post.)

I'm sitting here wondering how a rooster could possibly fertilize an egg that has already been layed. I'm thinking the hard shell might be a problem:)
