The New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old. It doesn't take its place. The Old is full of promises of a coming Messiah (Savior) the New tells how the promises were kept, or fulfilled, by Jesus.

What really makes me start spiraling is the universe. Scientists think it’s expanding, but then it must be
expanding into something, because if it were limited there would still be something beyond it, and my mind can’t quite grapple the concept of something being of infinite volume
