August 2023 hatch-a-long

I've had 4 great hatches this year, so it was bound to happen eventually. I've got 6 of my eggs in with that 1 so it won't be lonely, lol, hoping to give them to my broody (I really don't like raising chicks, lol)
I've never experienced a broody..this will only be my second hatch...

But I do like being in control in the beginning...perhaps of I had a broody I'd try her...but I don't think any of my breeds are bred for broody besides my BRs but they are still young...I wouldn't let them mother anyway...(21wks)

For funsies....
Here is a pic of the egg colors, and the parent stock and a list of the breeds I am hatching from...

Hopes are for green egg layers...🤞🤞🤞
Oh nice variety!!!! I am trying desperately for colored layers this year, but they hate me. Lol. Right now I have 1 OE, 2 blue EE eggs and 1 BB brahma (green egg) in my incubator. Will post pics of new eggs hopefully Wed or Thurs

This is my second broody, my OE last year did a great job! I keep mine inside for about 3 days to make sure everyone is eating and drinking, then outside they go. I've got a 6x8 breeding pen that I added a grow out coop to, it works great! By 2-3 weeks they are running around with the bigs, my roo adores chicks! Pics, just cuz they're cute, lol

I have had so many good ones too. So was shocked, but ya guess they all can't be good. I have the other 3 in with that 1, but they are due 2 days later. 😥

I have a buttercup that is said doesn't go broody. She has been broody for 3-4 times and she is only 15 mo. Old. Lol. Seems all spring/summer I have had 2-3 broodys non stop.
