August Hatch-A-Long

I turn into a nervous nellie when I have babies taking their time..... I have found the hands on hatching thread to be very helpful for me, but I am a hands on sort.

International or external?
They were external. They didn't make it. I'm so sad about it since they all looked so vigorous at lockdown. I have 5 more due this coming Thursday & 2 (a fertility test) due the next Thursday. Just trying to keep my chin up to cope with it.

I am so sorry for your loss.
Up until this last couple of hatches I fought some incubator issues and ended up with too many DIS for my comfort. I am hoping that going forward it will continue to be better.

Congrats to the little peeps that have hatched!
Oddly I was due to start hatching the 5th...One did hatch early and didn't make it (it fell after escaping the nest box) so friday morning I ran around like crazy changing the boxes to the usual ones I use (they have high sides and no open places chicks can get out).Another hatched saturday and is cute, silvery-grey and doing wonderfully.
I haven't a clue what's up with the rest of the eggs but since all the hems are sticking to those nests, it's likely they are waiting to hatch out the eggs laid into their nest in the first week.
It's always an adventure with broody-hatches.

So sorry for your loss. I've incubated Calls once before, only time I've experienced a DIS. So sad, especially as I had to check for my own piece of mind. A beautiful little thing. Fingers crossed for you moving forward!
