August Hatch-A-Long

We have one healthy chocolate call! :love Now waiting on their sibling. This one was the industrious zipper, the one who has made a huge hole is still with us, but not currently progressing. A little concerned about the membrane looking dark but the humidity is about 86% :fl

Yay!! I couldn't see your last post when I asked how they were?! Glad they are hatching!

You're spot on! After extensive reading I went to assist the remaining duck. Looks like they pipped just outside of the air sac. Chipped the shell off and coconut oiled the membrane, all the veins had dried up. Got to have a good look inside the shell, all seemed to be ready so I freed the head and gravity did the rest, as soon as it could it was using it's feet to push itself out! The most gorgeous little babe. A touch smaller than the chocolate Call who unzipped themselves (I then read how dangerous that can be for Calls!!!) but the most sweet little babe! Here it is just after it's cesarian and looking like a baby dragon!
How is your broody taking to the eggs?

Oh, and the waste inside the egg... It wasn't in the usual glob it was smeared everywhere! So much mucus and tight membrane I had to peel it back before it came out.
Made sure it could finish the job mind as was so fearful about yolk absorption but it had a perfect little navel!

Sweet duckling.. it does look like a dragon! I am happy it worked out! I do hear a lot of people help Call ducklings hatch... it's great that yours mostly did it themselves.

I am still waiting on ducklings 2 & 3, wondering how long 1 can stay on the bator without smashing everything. I may break down and give #1 to mama first and hope the other two can catch up! I will keep them pretty contained for the first couple weeks though.

Hi all,

I have 6 eggs in my incubator - 3 silkie and 3 sizzle. 4 have hatched and one pipped last night. The remaining sizzle egg should have pipped yesterday. I inadvertently dropped water on it while I was adding water to the incubator. Do you think that will affect my hatch? Here are the first two babies that hatched 2 days ago. 2 more hatched yesterday. Worried about the remaining actionless egg. It was candled before lock down and was fine.
