August Hatch-A-Long

Sadly the one didn't hatch. It was dead in the shell. The 5th one hatched this afternoon. I candled the 6th and it was a no.

Lesson learned - not sure if the water had anything to do with it, but going forward I'll make sure no eggs are under the hole where you add water.

I candled again last night. Two were not fertilized and the remaining four looked really good. With lockdown on Monday I am on eggshells. Pun intended.

Set 20 eggs, 10 polish/brahma and 10 that are either faiyumi or hamburgs chicks. Hatching should start tomorrow for some of them

I put a few more in last sunday........ ok so for the record 31 is a few right? Lol when I candled last night all of my dark ones and all of my green ones showed signes of developmemt but only half or so of my delaware and dark Cornish cross eggs looked promising...... time will tell

Today is the day! I woke up this morning to a pip.

The one that pipped yesterday morning hatched last night. Another one pipped but didn't make it. The third one pipped last night and hatched this morning. The fourth egg has shown no activity.

My hatch for this month, 16/20 . At least 2/3 of the chicks are barnyard mix, the polish mix chicks all got the feathering on their feet/legs, aside from one, who is the last picture.

Yup still have the bator running, was glad I had a backup kuz my good one the fan went out. Eggs went into the backup for about 3 days while I waited on a replacement fan and now we are still in business. Hatch should start on Sunday give or take lockdown is Thursday. Just backyard mutts but should be fun
