August Hatch-A-Long

Pics
So sweet! I'm sorry none of your Silkies hatched! That's the worst!
#8 looks exactly like my Cream Legbar Pullets but I'm not familiar with a few of the breeds you hatched so there could be others that look like them at hatch.

I thought that it might be at first, but I saw 3 CCL hatch. 1 male and 2 pullets. Since the lighter chipmunks look alike, I figure they are the pullets. And I can’t figure out which other chick would be the Icelandic lol. I need to go back through pics and video to see if I can figure it out

My Delaware and Delaware mix girls seem to lay pink.... I believe they are listed as laying med brown? My original Delaware girls hatched in 2016 so getting older, I got them from privet hatchery. I like their size and those gorgeous big pink eggs in winter.
I would love to add a pink egg layer to our flock!!! Do you have Delaware Roos too?

So we had some losses this summer of the big girls (I think the high corn provides cover for predators). One of whom was Frances.

Background. Back when we were hatching in May, she crushed an egg on day 20, so we took her eggs from her and finished them in the incubator.

In June, she disappeared, and we thought that she was coyote food. But we kept on seeing her every now and again having a snack where we scatter scratch grain.

Well, what do we have here? Two days ago she showed up with four little ones in tow. She showed us who is a good mother.

We'd separated the roos and hens from our May Hatch, so we released the roos into Gen Pop and left their coop open. Frances and her chicklets moved in immediately. She couldn't get them up the ramp last night, so they are in the run. It rained a lot overnight/today, so hopefully they aren't drowning in a puddle right now.

I moved into lockdown 1 day early, it turned out to be a blessing last hatch as I had half my eggs pip 3 days early (caused by tiny yolks in one of my hybrid layers) 4 Naked Necks (1/4 Red Ranger) and 9 Seramas. Kinda sad because I started out with 50 eggs but one of my roosters was infertile, and has since passed away. Luckily I had 2 of that breed.

I think 14 is the Icelandic. Do you have numbers based on shells of what you’re expecting to find? :)

I bet the isbars are throwing things off because they could be three colors.

Edit I just looked up Icelandic. AH! They can be anything. This is exciting.

I have no idea how you’ll tell the Legbars from Icelandic this young. It looks like maybe the point on the head isn’t there on one? That may be the Icelandic if there are two chipmunks that have the same head markings to be the female Legbars.

Now I’m loving Icelandic chickens.
