August Hatch-A-Long

BRLW shipped eggs update: out of 6 eggs it looks like I have 3 still developing after day 7 candle, Two had some development, but had no movement when I candled. I am going to candle in a few days to make sure they are quitters. Keeping finger crossed the three hatch and are pullets. Lol. My luck they will be cockerels.

I may have some full Naked Necks this time. I like the Bow Ties but I need full naked necks for further breeding projects. So far 6 are out of their shells, looks like 3 more are going to hatch tonight or die trying. 5 of the six were gathered in the same corner so I snagged a new picture.

I will see which ones have a Bow Tie and which ones do not when I am able to handle them tomorrow as they head to the brooder.

Finished my weekend hatch... cleaned the hatcher and set next weeks eggs in it with the Turner to make it easier to go into lockdown Wednesday. Next hatch looks like it should be about the same number of eggs... wow what was I thinking?
Just set a few black copper marans eggs this evening..... oops?

My serama egg's shipping label was just created, they will probs be here Wed or Thursday... which means that im gonna have a staggered hatch on my hands, first one actually, i just set blrw eggs on saturday, so theyre gonna be about 4-5 days apart, and i may or may not be in yet ANOTHER auction for MORE blrw eggs, so i think that i will just let the serama eggs sit until i get these other blue laced eggs in, then set them both in the incubator at the same time.

I'm pretty sure 3 of 5 eggs due end of the month are infertile. Totally fine with that. The other 2 are showing development though.

The 3 due 8/25 look good and the 4 due at the end of the week are on track.

I'm starting to get a little nervous about staggered hatching, mostly because I have shipped eggs in the middle hatch but I think they could do with some extra humidity.

Um, im a bit nervous, I've got 39 eggs in my little giant 4250 model, and I just walked into my hatching room, and the thing was unplugged, im not sure for how long, but when I plugged it back in it was at room temp and at 92% humidity, there is no way that these eggs are gonna survive that, they've been in there for 4 days now, they're too young for that kind of spike, right? And please, don't be afraid to speak your mind, the truth hurts sometimes, but its still the truth.

Different stages in the same incubator, I can see minor issues to deal with. Which is why I figured I would do one hatch date per load. Although I see benefits to staggering to.

There's always hope! I have seen eggs hatch under some terrible conditions. I mean, I just had an egg hatch that had been incubated outside in the nest box without a broody hen for 3-4 days and it hatched perfectly healthy even though I forgot to take it out of the turner and it pipped while rolling.
You may have a lower hatch rate, but I wouldn't be surprised if your hatch is completely unaffected. Fingers crossed!

I got 4 eggs from @BlueBaby from her flock due one date, then 3 more from her due another date and to make a dozen...I guess I decided I was up for a challenge. There's a good number of days between hatch 1 and 2 so I have time to adjust if necessary but between 2 and 3, that's a wobbler and I didn't realize how close those dates are.

If I'm going to keep this up I'll buy a still air and use it as a hatcher, but I have to be able to justify it for more than a hobby. IE are we really going to process our own meat regularly to warrant the cost?
