Good luck with your hatch!
Well it is normal for them to pip, absorb and then zip. But mine could only internally pip - except the one whose internal pip went straight out the side through both membranes and shell. So I am having to wait for the time period that they would normally be absorbing prior to zipping. But since they won't be able to zip on their own I will be assisting. I am having a lot of serious malpositions and I don't know why - I would guess the fact that they are shipped with detached and wonky saddle air cells contributed to these.
That makes sense, so they dont know which way is up and are more likely to move into the wrong position. Or bust through wherr there is no air. Its good to learn this is only my second hatch. I hatched polish bantams last time and I think if I had assisted a few who pipped but didn't zip they would have done better. Trying a dry ish hatch this time.
