just found something amazing! was unplugging and then moving my bator so i could clean and make it ready for the next batch and underneath it i found an egg i had lost and thought one my dogs ate and since it had been out of the bator for 3 days give or take i figured that if there was a chick inside it'd be dead after three day of no heat or humidity to help it hatch...but when i made a small hole in the big end(was just gonna see what color chick i might have gotten if it'd hatched) there was a little yellow chick in there that moved, looked at me and gave a pitiful peep. so amazed at this little chicks will to live...put it into a silicone cupcake/muffin mold with a piece of barely moist paper towel and put it back in the bator and added some water and a towel over top to help the heat go back up and keep the humidity in and hope and pray it will live
Awww...I hope your baby makes it!

Hi ....i have seen a few pics of the hatching eggs and a few of the eggs in the pictures seem to be hatching in egg cartons ....im confused ....if you incubate them in a egg carton cant you not turn them? Or dont you need to turn them ? ......or do you just move them into the carton when the are at the point in incubation when they dont need to be turned or are due to hatch......thanks in advance

I'm hatching my cochin bantams in an egg carton and I turn them 5x's a day. I do not need to open the incubator...I can turn from the outside....basically they are tilted on an angle. This is a homemade incubator and has done the job very well! Today is lockdown day 18 and I will remove the egg turner and place the egg carton on the bottom....no more turning or opening the incubator until they hatch! I'm no professional by any means, this is just the method I chose to use.

This poor little one has been at about this stage for the last 6 hrs. Do I assist? It hasn't broken free of the shell. I'm worried my water ran out some time about 1 hr ago ANC when I checked this morning humidity was down to 54%. It's been 20 mins and it back over 60
