August Hatch-A-Long!

Yeah!!!!!! How exciting I have some due on Monday I can't wait so I'm living through you guys to keep me busy lol

Good luck on Monday. I'm hoping I get more than one although its only 2 hrs past the 21 day and with the heat probs I'm hoping for at least another 10 or more. First time using a home built. Usually our hens do all this worrying.

one of my chicks are hatching it's coming out now it's mother is just standing up all the time cause she can feel it's liitle beak slowly coming out

Since this is my first hatch, I really am not sure what to look for. I defiantly saw air pockets and what looked like veins to me but the rest of the egg is about half full of dark. I'm having a hard time getting the bator over 64% humidity. I really don't want to keep opening it. So I guess I should just wait? It's day 22 and 4 hours.

I use a tube and syringe to add water to the incubator thru the vent hole. I also leave a few sponge pieces in there to spray water on. This helps to raise and keep the humidity up where it should be. Once in lockdown you should not be opening your bator or you could shrink wrap your chicks that have pipped.

A fourth chick hatched this evening...day 22.5! See why you must wait beyond day 21? Lol. All four babies so far have hatched on their own and are doing very well. One homegrown and three silkies.

Here comes #5! Oh glad someone just said it help the chicks to be urged out to be rolled as I cant watch the chicks climbing on other eggs and rolling the pipped eggs all over.Always creeps me out,. IM gonna think this thought now.... its a Good thing ...... its a Good thing !!.
Lol, it IS a good thing :) I was expecting a lavender silkie to hatch out of an egg marked with an L...it was a sweet YELLOW chick! I think the breeder made a boo-boo.

instead of zipping around the egg my chick is just making a whole. Now it is not doing anything someone tell me what to do I'm getting worried

in the end I had to help the little guy out he came out and is under his mama he is going strong and when I help him out there was no blood

just found something amazing! was unplugging and then moving my bator so i could clean and make it ready for the next batch and underneath it i found an egg i had lost and thought one my dogs ate and since it had been out of the bator for 3 days give or take i figured that if there was a chick inside it'd be dead after three day of no heat or humidity to help it hatch...but when i made a small hole in the big end(was just gonna see what color chick i might have gotten if it'd hatched) there was a little yellow chick in there that moved, looked at me and gave a pitiful peep. so amazed at this little chicks will to live...put it into a silicone cupcake/muffin mold with a piece of barely moist paper towel and put it back in the bator and added some water and a towel over top to help the heat go back up and keep the humidity in and hope and pray it will live
