get rid of the one with the blood ring....then candle again on the 18th...at that point you will be checking the development...mostly all chick except the air cell....if one doesn't look right simply put a pencil question mark on it so you'll remember which one you aren't sure about then if it doesn't hatch you'll know already you had doubts....then lock them down...once they pip it could be 2 days before they hatch themselves so don't rush it! if and when you get reallty worried about a particular chick come to this thread and let someone get you through...never star helping before a day and a half after they pip...but wait and see if you even need to go there....many people never help because they believe that if they can't hatch they won't survive...all you can do now is let them cook and keep looking at the pictures of the breed you incubating in anticipation of their arrival!

Thank you for the sound advice. Seems logical and straightforward. So lockdown is from day 12-21 and pipping starts or should start on day 21?

Question: I have set a total if 8 eggs from one of my hens. Different hatches, but same result. They start out fine, but around day 10-12 they start getting what looks to be a blood ring all the way around the egg. Any ideas what could be causing this? Could it be genetic
have you tried a search engine search? I think I read somewhere that it could be a lack of vitamins or minerals in the parents
