we have a third of an acre fenced off just for the fowl to free range on...we decided if we couldn't rehome a roo he would just stay with us!

I tried the "day old wing feather" trick, but it is also the only one without a fair chunk of wing feathers, and it is getting a tiny set of bumps already on the comb, it is about 7-10 days (would have to look at exact hatch date) at most. Cute little bugger though! One of the GL Brahmas we got is just starting to get wattles that are a tiny bit pink at 4 to 5 weeks. Guess it's good we can have roos and several of our neighbors grew up on farms!

I hope so too. Enough sadness already. I have 10 little eggs in the bator due on 21st then I am done! At least until next spring, then we will see. How about everyone else, who still has their bator running and will you be doing more after this batch are done?

I just set my 1st batch of Cochin Bantam eggs Tuesday. I've been so excited, but all of this sadness has brought the excitement down a bit. I will be candling them on day seven and I'm really hoping to see some development.
