August Hatch-A-Long!

I have heard people say to only have from an egg from a hen laying full size consistently. But I've also had people tell me the eggs from young chickens just starting to lay (the smaller eggs) are better. What do you guys think?
The information I have gotten is that the small eggs do not give enough room for the chick to grow and hatch.
I do not set pullet eggs. gives me the creeps to think there may be a growing chick that runs out of room and dies as a result.
Others may have a different opinion............
You could also write hatching pullet eggs into search and see what comes up.....

Good Luck

HELP!!!! Ok peeps, no pun intended. I have a predicament. My hatch goes I to lockdown tonight and I just picked up a set of six silkie eggs but I don't have an extra bator to put them in. I have 2 broodys however they're already laying on 13 eggs. Do you think I can place the new eggs under them if I label them and then move them to the bator after my eggs have hatched?

X2!! I have a broody sitting on 9 right now. She's still a pullet so I never know when/if broody may quit. Since I won't be using my incubator after this I'm going to keep it on stand by just in case. It is hot right now, I'm not sure how she can tough out the heat. I do give her ice water though.

Honestly I would wait & it may vary depending on the breed. I have tried incubating a few of my marans pullets eggs at 7months old, they may start developing veins but nothing after that. By pullet went broody, so I'm letting her sit on hers & a few full grown hens' eggs just do she won't be disappointed

Is there a particular type of shipped bantam? Or just any bantam? If it doesn't matter, there are frizzle cochins on ebay that are very inexpensive, that are doing really well in my incubator. They haven't hatch yet, so I don't know for sure and also the bantam mix seems to do well if I don't have incubator temp issues.

I was hoping for Calico bantams, but Frizzles would be fun too. I'll look on Ebay, thanks!

oh my gosh...a little guinea hatched yesterday and died...then today a little guinea hatched and started bleeding from every orifice....I can't bring myself to cull anything but I couldn't just leave it like that...I took it to my neighbor that's an older chicken guy! and I left

the only thing I can think of is that these eggs had been in the coop under a hen that wasn't following through and twice I found eggs broken all over them....I'm thinking they got sick in the shell from that! poor little things...now I have others hatching, I so don't want them to go through anything like that!
