I just went and checked, it's been less than an hour since I changed to the jelly jar of water. The humidity is at 63º. Much better than in the 80's.

I drilled some wholes just over the top of the shelf where my water pan sits and use a funnel to add water to the pan. I only have to add water once a week that way. There's no way to add water this way. It's a cabinet and doesn't have vent holes of any sort. The back has a forced air fan, to bring fresh air in, but that's it. :-(
That's awesome to keep that tight of temp range in a homemade bator.![]()
that's good, as long as you can keep it around there should be fine. Glad you found something that works!I just went and checked, it's been less than an hour since I changed to the jelly jar of water. The humidity is at 63º. Much better than in the 80's.
That's probably what I would have done. My incubator is a cooler so I drilled a bunch of holes I have a lot of places I can add water to, but the dish cloth seems to help the most.I drilled some wholes just over the top of the shelf where my water pan sits and use a funnel to add water to the pan. Quote: it's pip hole was oozing I thought I'd find it dead but it wasn't I opened it's air and cleaned it nose....it had to wait awhile to hatch then I had to help it and it needed a bath...and this was a dry incubation, anyway it's fluffing and running around the bator with another that hatch in the night and another that is dragging it shell with it lol.....we have another pip that is a loud mouth lol.....I don't see movement at this point in the other 3 but we shall see....so far I think it 1 orp and 2 am....they are beautiful!! pics soon![]()
What do you mean "dry hatch"? Is there no water while they are hatching?
Quote: a dry incubation is around 25% humidity....then lock down 40% to 65%....but if you live in a dry area you might consult with others that incubate successfully there....
I still have a bit over 2 weeks to go. This hatch will be my first in my new homemade cabinet incubater and with some pretty expensive eggs. 45 eggs total. This hatch will seem to take for-freekin-ever.
Not according to the instructions in the learning center https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-to-incubate-hatch-eggs-using-the-dry-incubation-methoda dry incubation is around 25% humidity....then lock down 40% to 65%....but if you live in a dry area you might consult with others that incubate successfully there....
