August Hatch-A-Long!

I put the 7 remaining of my shipped Barred Rock eggs into the hatcher laying down on day 16 and stopped turning them. There was one that looked very weird when I candled them - like black mold growing on the inside of the shell rather than a silhouette of a chick. When I turned it slid inside and spun. I was about to toss it when it waved at me. So I put it in with a big frowny face on it as I didn't expect it to end well. Today is day 18 and I candled and sure enough it died. I eggtopsied and found that what looked like mold was black feathers and it was like the chick had developed feathers and they had grown into the membrane. And the membrane was completely detached from the shell and was spinning inside the other membrane. Super weird. The chick was far less developed than it should have been. So strange. So right now from 14 original shipped eggs all with detached air cells I currently have 6 healthy looking wigglers in the hatcher. Hoping all 6 do OK and that most of them are girlies :)
